Directions Disability Support Services has provided personalised and individually tailored support to people with disability and their families for over 25 years, and has developed an excellent reputation for high quality relationship-based services.  

We are looking for support workers who can provide positive encouragement, help to build and develop relationships within the community, encourage life skills, and inspire confidence in those around them. You need to be passionate and enthusiastic, should be able to build strong relationships with the people we support, and live by our values of trust and loyalty.

We are urgently seeking support workers living both north and south of the river. These are for individualised community based supports.

We are also urgently seeking support workers to work in our Groups program for young people. Weekday and school holiday availability north of the river and Saturday and school holiday availability in Peel Region.

For both individualised and Groups program supports you need to be willing to work a variable roster which includes mornings, afternoons and weekends.

The role of support worker varies according to the goals of the person supported, and can include mentoring, building social and community connections, developing skills with money and time management, shopping, cooking, sports, and many other activities.

We are interviewing people who have:

  • Passion to support people with a disability
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with people who have a range of behavioural concerns and needs
  • Previous experience working with people who have high care needs including personal care, PEG feed experience would be ideal
  • Versatile communication skills, the ability to communicate and interact with both verbal and non-verbal individuals
  • Strong computer skills and written skills to communicate with the team and accurately record progress notes
  • Person-centred values
  • Energy, enthusiasm, reliability, dedication and flexibility
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • A Current WA National Police Clearance
  • "C" class licence and a reliable vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate (current)
  • Good English Literacy Skills
  • Proof of Ability to Work in Australia
