Directions Health Services is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of integrated services and programs for people affected by alcohol and other drug issues, their families, and the wider community. Pathways Eurobodalla is based on a harm minimisation approach provided in a non-judgemental and respectful manner.

The Position

Fixed Term, full time position preferred (however part-time may be negotiable), based in Narooma or Moruya, providing community-based treatment, case management and support to clients and family members impacted by alcohol and other drug issues for Pathways Eurobodalla.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients, utilising a stepped model of care, to provide holistic assessment, counselling, intensive case management, referral, harm minimisation education, group facilitation and support services to assist clients and their family/friends to improve outcomes and reduce harms associated with drug and alcohol use
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team and support the provision of withdrawal, primary health and mental health care through consortium partners
  • Provide culturally responsive services and advice to clients, families and communities impacted by substance use
  • Develop effective working relationships with consortium members, the local Drug and Alcohol service, other local health and community agencies, justice related agencies, Arcadia House and other Directions programs

What we would like you to have:

  • Experience in the Alcohol and Other Drug sector
  • Qualification or currently studying towards a qualification, in Counselling/Social Work/Psychology/Nursing/other relevant field and/or Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drug Work
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of substance use on clients and family members/friends, and good working knowledge of effective treatment and support options and harm minimisation strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Group facilitation skills

All appointments will be conditional upon having a NSW Working with Children Check, current First Aid and CPR certification, and a satisfactory National Police Check.
