Directions Health Services is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of integrated services and programs for people affected by alcohol and other drug issues, their families, and the wider community. The new Sapphire Health and Wellbeing Service will be delivered by Directions and a consortium of other providers including Katungul and Grand Pacific Health. The service will offer non-judgemental, holistic, community-based treatment based on a harm minimisation approach.  

The Position

Several fixed term positions based in SE NSW are being recruited to, with part time or full time considered. Case Managers will provide collaborative, community-based treatment, case management and support to clients and family members impacted by alcohol and other drug issues within the Sapphire Health and Wellbeing Service.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients, utilising a stepped model of care, to provide holistic assessment, counselling, intensive case management, referral, harm minimisation education, support and group facilitation for clients and family members impacted by drug and alcohol use, and support the provision of withdrawal, primary health and mental health care through consortium partners
  • Provide culturally responsive services and advice to clients, families and communities impacted by substance use
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with consortium partners, Local Health District Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Service, other health and community services, key stakeholders, and other Directions programs

What we would like you to have:

  • Qualification or currently studying towards a qualification, in Counselling/Social Work/Psychology/Nursing/other relevant field and/or Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drug Work
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of substance use on clients and family members/friends, and good working knowledge of effective treatment and support options and harm minimisation strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Group facilitation skills

All appointments will be conditional upon having a NSW Working with Children Check, current First Aid and CPR certification, and a satisfactory National Police Check.
