Following new investment in Child Protection within Victoria, DFFH are looking for a Deputy Area Operations Manager to join our Child Protection team in Preston. This is a great opportunity to lead practice in the Hume Moreland Area in establishing the Orange Door.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Deputy Area Operations Manager is responsible for operational management across the local area including financial, budget, HR and performance management of staff, high profile case reviews and completion of ministerial briefings. The position leads practice to develop plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes.

The position will work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders and directly supervises the Child Protection Team Managers and Practice Leaders in the local area.

This is a new role initially fixed term for 12 months. The role will lead practice in Hume Moreland Area in establishing a child protection team in The Orange Door and managing children Case Contracted to Community Services Organisations. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

At this level, the role has significant and deep experience applying the below capabilities and is recognised around the state as an expert in applying these capabilities with both colleagues and external stakeholders. You will have the ability to strategically plan within the Hume Moreland Area and with child protection practitioners to continue to develop in this area, and successfully operationalise these plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Mandatory

  • A recognised Social Work degree or a similar welfare or behavioural related degree 

or

  • A recognised Diploma of Community Services Work, or similar qualification which is studied over a minimum of two academic years of full-time study (or part time equivalent)
  • A valid driver's licence.
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) card.
