Establishing a Skills and Jobs Taskforce to support Victoria’s clean economy workforce skills

The Victorian Government is establishing a two-year Clean Economy Skills and Jobs Taskforce to provide independent expert advice to the Minister for Training and Skills on the Victorian clean economy sector’s skills needs.

The Taskforce is part of the recently funded Victorian Government’s Clean Economy Workforce Skills initiative, which is designed to equip the Victorian workforce with the necessary skills, and to support Victorian industry, business and the TAFE and training system to develop the skills of their workforce and deliver relevant training, as the Victorian economy transitions towards a net zero emissions economy by 2050 and a circular economy.

Meeting at least four times a year, and engaging in a series of sector roundtable consultations, the Taskforce will inform the development of a Clean Economy Workforce Development Strategy and provide expert advice, knowledge and guidance in the design, establishment and implementation of its key initiatives to ensure workforce skill needs are met.

The new Taskforce will include up to 12 members including the Chair, who can bring skills, expertise, experience and a proven commitment to training and developing the skills of the Victorian workforce, particularly in new and emerging industries such as the clean economy and/or in ensuring key Victorian industries are able to adapt and respond to the new workforce skill needs required in a decarbonised and circular economy.

We seek experienced individuals from relevant industries, employer peak bodies, employee associations, the Victorian TAFE and Training sector, government and policy and research institutes.
