DSS provides a range of services that are geared towards supporting Aboriginal Corporations to achieve a sustainable and independent future, focusing on building capacity by empowering local and regional decision making.

This unique new role is an exceptional opportunity to support the development of new and emerging Aboriginal Ranger Teams across the central desert region of WA. Working closely with colleagues, the role will coordinate project delivery for Ten Deserts Program funded emerging ranger team projects, and the Ngurra Kayanta IPA Consultation project.

The role will support traditional owners get on country and develop plans to look after country. Supported by the DSS team, it’s a hands-on role providing leadership and coordination of on-country activities.

The successful person will:

  • work effectively with Aboriginal people to achieve shared goals;
  • have well developed project management skills;
  • have excellent facilitation and multi-tasking skills;
  • ability to plan, coordinate and lead remote area field work;
  • show appropriate initiative and work productively with limited supervision; and
  • have excellent practical, problem solving, organisational, writing and inter-personal communication skills.

The successful person will be required to travel and work remotely in the field for extended periods of time during the field season (roughly February to November).

  • salary packaging of approximately $15,900 per annum plus an additional $2,650 per annum for meals and accommodation is available;

  • regional allowance (if relevant).
