This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the development of land management activities in the well-established Birriliburu Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) and to create long lasting ecological and social impact in the region. The Birriliburu IPA is located within the Little Sandy and Gibson Deserts. The purpose of this role is to:
The way DSS operates is to support community-based organisations to drive and sustainably manage their programs. Part of your role then, will be to help Birriliburu traditional owners lead their land management program, via direction from the locally owned land management company, Birriliburu Pty Ltd. BPL has now been operating successfully for more than a year, and is at an exciting stage of its development.
The role requires you to travel and work remotely and in Wiluna for extended periods during the field season (roughly February to November). Because of this, the position can either be Wiluna-based throughout the field season, or Perth-based.
If Perth-based you will need to be able to travel for 2 to 3 weeks per month throughout the field season. If Wiluna-based DSS will supply comfortable accommodation, a remote allowance, return travel at start and end of field season, and will fly you to Perth as required.
The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check (obtained within the last 6 months) or be willing to obtain the above mentioned as a condition of employment.
