Deakin University’s School of Psychology, in collaboration with a number of other universities and hospitals, is running a trial comparing yoga, cognitive behaviour therapy and education to improve quality of life and reduce healthcare costs for people with endometriosis over 5 years. This is an exciting opportunity to manage the day-to-day operations of this cutting edge trial and involves coordinating and managing the trial and ensuring adherence to the guidelines for good clinical practice (GCP) and ethical standards.

Holding responsibility for setting up systems and processes for the efficient running of the trial, as well as recruitment, follow up and data management, the Research Fellow, Trial Lead will work with the Chief Investigators to ensure every aspect of the study runs smoothly. Your confident and credible communication style and ability to communicate effectively, sensitively, and compassionately with a range of internal and external staff and project stakeholders (including people with endometriosis), will position you well to immediately build the trust and respect essential for this position. Highly detail orientated, your aptitude and genuine passion for intervention research and clinical trials will ensure your success within this important position.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develops and provides guidance on trial database management
  • Coordinating ethics amendments and overseeing adherence to ethics requirements
  • Coordinating recruitment for the study, including advertising
  • Ensures the protocol is met and maintains the interest and support of participants and researchers
  • Maintaining regular contact with study participants to ensure retention and document reasons for withdrawal
  • Managing all survey points, including baseline, 2 months, 6 months and 12 months
  • Maintains integrity of information in case record forms and databases, taking steps to collect the data, checking the consistency and accuracy of data and making appropriate corrections
  • Administrative and communications support including word processing, information dissemination and arranging meetings as directed by the Chief Investigators
  • Regular reporting on progress and problem solving
  • Assists with the preparation of Annual Progress Reports for the HREC and funding bodies

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Master's degree in a health related field such as psychology, or an advanced nursing degree
  • Sound clinical trials experience including trial set-up, coordination and project management
  • Experience in data management, and record keeping (including participant flow through a clinical trial)
  • Experience managing intervention study databases
  • Experience preparing study protocols, ethics applications, and study materials
