DDACL is a family friendly, flexible, supportive workplace that supports staff and encourages training and development. This position provides a great opportunity to work with back of house systems, procurements and to ensure financial accountability and sustainability of the organisation.

The DDACL provide a range of services including Primary and Allied Health Care through Bunurong Health Service (BHS) as well as Tackling Indigenous Smoking, Koori Maternity Services; and Social & Community Services programs, such as, Youth, Family Support, HACC, Boys on the Bounce and Girls on the Go and Aboriginal Best Start.

About the Opportunity

A positive work ethic is required to improve the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the southern metropolitan region by contributing strong leadership and financial management systems to maintain sustainability and accountability. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide financial and budget support in the coordination, development, maintenance and evaluation of the DHHS, DoHA, DPM&C and other agencies programs managed by DDACL;
  • Identify the need for new programs and projects through researching and analysing community issues and contributes to funding submissions and program implementation strategies;
  • Ensure that other Managers are able to function effectively and meet their respective financial responsibilities;
  • Provide high level support to the day-to-day management of the organisation;
  • Manage Human Resources risks, in association with the HR Advisor,
  • Provide essential support to the CEO, including sharing in the deputising and providing relief for the CEO in their absence;
  • Ensure that the Corporate Services team, through the Finance Officer, maintains effective records of financial transactions for EFT and cheque payments on MYOB;
  • Leading a small team of Corporate Services employees and,
  • Ensure that the Administration Officer processes fortnightly payroll effectively and efficiently with negligible errors.

Desired Skills and Experience

Our preferred candidate will possess a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture, the concept and practice of Aboriginal community control, as well as excellent leadership skills the ability to build great working relationships, develop skills in others, a flexible approach, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
