Come and join in our vision to empower the Aboriginal community lead their best lives.The Dandenong and Districts Aborigines Co-operative (DDACL) is an Aboriginal community controlled health organization (ACCHO) which is governed by a community elected Board of Directors, offering comprehensive primary health care, allied health, along with family, aged/disability, youth and housing services. The Best Start program is based on formal partnerships of local agencies and services providers working towards improved outcomes for children. As an Aboriginal Best Start facilitator you will be:

  • Supporting services to improve and tailor to the needs of for Aboriginal families and children
  • Facilitating an Aboriginal best start partnership that supports positive outcomes for Aboriginal families and children in the catchment area
  • Adopting evidence-based strategies and actions to deliver measurable benefits for young children through the use of rapid action-reflection ‘Plan, Do, Study, Act’ cycles that test ideas by temporarily trialling a change and assessing its immediate impact
  • Reviewing data, evidence and local knowledge with the partnership to identify community needs, and developing key strategies and actions to effectively respond to those needs
  • Utilising data and reporting at a local level to track and monitor progress towards outcomes identified by the partnership

Successful applicant will be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background, have demonstrated experience in working in cross-cultural settings, in particular in working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, families and communities and a demonstrated understanding of early childhood education and care, parenting approaches and early childhood development.You will also have experience in facilitation and network co-ordination (preferably across different sectors). Previous experience in research, analysis and interpretation of data is highly desirable as is a tertiary qualification and/or equivalent in early childhood development, education, community services or related field (substantial relevant work experience is also highly considered). Working with Children’s Check and Driver’s Licence are essential.
