About the Agency 

Resilience NSW is a new Executive Agency in the Premier and Cabinet cluster, established in May 2020, to transform the whole of government approach to disaster management in NSW. Resilience NSW leads and coordinates disaster prevention, management and recovery – learning from experience to drive strategies and investment to reduce risk, build resilience of NSW communities, and give confidence to our communities to live, work and invest in NSW. 

Resilience NSW keeps people and communities at the heart of everything it does. By leading a whole of government approach to disaster recovery and resilience, we ensure that people are cared for, acknowledged and empowered – so that all NSW communities are better prepared for and supported on their journey of recovery from any crisis or disaster event.

About the role

The primary purpose of the role is to provide communications advice to client groups, deliver campaigns, manage channels of communication and events, and produce a range of communications (including written and digital) to engage employees and achieve business outcomes

Reporting to the Director, Communication and Engagement, key responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage internal communication channels (incl. fortnightly e-newsletter and intranet) and create content to engage employees in delivering business objectives and transformational change.
  • Prepare engaging, strategically aligned content for internal audiences delivered via a range of vehicles such as presentations, social and digital media, campaigns, stories, newsletters, forums and events.
  • Provide input to the development of communications plans and communication strategies.
  • Build and maintain internal stakeholder relationships facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of communication and engagement solutions and material.
  • Undertake analysis and review of communications tactics and strategies to evaluate outcomes of specific initiatives and inform future service delivery.
  • Create, review and monitor information for agency intranets to keep stakeholders up to date and provide comprehensive information on operations and services.
  • Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with agency requirements, to respond to Agency and/or Government requests.
  • Review and provide advice and technical support across the agency on the communications aspects of ResNSW programs and projects

About you 

We’re looking for a talented communicator who has a proven track record in managing internal communications and increasing employee engagement.

We need someone who knows how to talk to a range of internal stakeholders and can easily change their style and tone to suit the audience and channel. The successful applicant will also have;

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations or journalism or relevant/demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Experience in project managing communications and content delivery across a variety of channels for internal and external audiences.
  • An ability and willingness to travel within NSW and support other operational roles during disasters, emergencies and other events, consistent with skills, background and personal circumstances.
