Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (Djerriwarrh) is a highly regarded not-for-profit charitable organisation which has been delivering high quality education, training, employment and youth programs in the western suburbs of Melbourne since 1989. The VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) is an accredited secondary certificate which is a hands-on option for year 11 and 12 students, offering practical work-related experience and learning. Djerriwarrh delivers Foundation, Intermediate and Senior VCAL streams. The VCAL has four curriculum strands: Literacy and Numeracy Skills; Industry Specific Skills; Work Related Skills; Personal Development Skills.
The objective of the program is to engage and support students to successfully complete the VCAL. At the conclusion of VCAL students will have practical work-related experience and a qualification that is recognised by other Registered Training Organisations including TAFE and employers. This will assist students to move from school into work, an apprenticeship or traineeship and/or further training.
