About the role

This role is an opportunity to work with our specialist Deaf & Hard of Hearing Disability Employment Service (DES) Team in Queensland as an Employment Consultant. Reporting to the Site Manager, your role will be to assess the support needs of DES Participants, identify barriers to employment. You will provide a tailored approach through regular contact and engagement to assist DES Participants to achieve sustainable employment while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

Experience within the Employment Services industry and a willingness to commit to learning Auslan is essential. The position is a minimum of three days per week with the option of full-time employment with an immediate start.

This role may require travel to other offices as required.

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in delivering DES and/or employment services to people with barriers to employment or service-based industries (desired)
  • Ability to develop and foster effective working relationships with program participants and a range of community employers, businesses and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability working to targets and KPI's
  • High level communication skills, both oral and written
  • A team player with a commitment to collaboration
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Welfare studies or related fields (desirable)

For the successful Applicant, employment is subject to satisfactory clearance of the following checks in line with DCA policies:

  • National Police Records Check
  • International Police Check (if applicable)
  • Blue Card with Yellow Card Exemption
  • Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme (DWES) clearance
  • Evidence of your entitlement to work in Australia
  • Valid driver's licence
