DAMEC is the leading agency in Alcohol and Other Drug health issues for Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Populations (CALD) in NSW. DAMEC has received funding for a new Alcohol and Other Drug Arabic bilingual counsellor position which extends the Clinical Services team into the Western Sydney region. 

DAMEC is seeking suitable qualified professionals for the following position. The position is based in West Sydney.

The vacant position is for an Arabic bilingual counsellor. It is full-time (five days per week) for a fixed period of 7.5 months, ending on 30 June 2022 with potential renewal depending on funding. This position will be paid under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Award (SCHADS). 

Desirable Criteria:

• Arabic background
• Fluency in speaking and writing Arabic 
• Knowledge of case management principles and case management experience
• Experience in and commitment to promoting improved health outcomes for people from CALD backgrounds
• Tertiary qualifications in health or related discipline
• Experience in the AOD and/or related field
• Experience in assessment, referral and counselling
• Experience in working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Sound written & communication skills
• Demonstrated computer literacy
• Demonstrated sensitivity to CALD
• Knowledge of community services in NSW
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity
• Current NSW drivers’ licence
