The role

Responsible for day-to-day operations of the three refuges including Lead Refuge management responsibilities, this position leads a team of  site-based case managers, Children’s Advocates plus support staff. 76 hours per fortnight.

Mandatory selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field, a degree qualification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience leading a team in crisis accommodation service provision within the FDV, Mental Health or Homelessness sector.
  • Experience providing a Trauma-Informed response to individuals and families affected by or experiencing FDV.
  • Knowledge and understanding of family violence and its impact on children / adolescents.
  • Extensive knowledge of family violence risk assessment and management frameworks.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and cooperatively within a team, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and commitment to continuous improvement.

In addition, we are seeking:

  • Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to PGCNV's vision, mission and values
  • Ability to engage with individuals with different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft office and client reporting systems

The Refuge Manager role will be responsible for:

  • Working in partnership with the Client Services Manager to provide direction, leadership and supervision of Refuge Case Workers, Support Workers, Child Advocates, and other specialist staff and effectively engaging with other services providers as appropriate including emergency system responses.
  • Maintaining high quality service delivery and identify and contribute to improved processes and policies.
  • Foster a supportive team environment that maximises the individual strengths and capabilities of each team member
  • Provide on-call support to staff in conjunction with the Client Services Manager
  • Higher duties as required.
