ORGANISATION PROFILE

Cumberland Women’s Health Centre (CWHC) is a not-for-profit community organisation that works with women who experience family and domestic violence, trauma and disadvantage in the Parramatta/Cumberland LGAs. The services we provide include crisis support, advocacy, referral, counselling, case-management and health-centred groups and programs. Our services help women to regain control in their lives and thrive through the development of self-confidence; reducing social isolation and building social networks; reducing health inequities; and achieving economic independence.

POSITION SUMMARY

CWHC are looking for a worker who will help support our mission through PR content creation, marketing and communications to strengthen our presence within the local and broader community. The position has responsibility to: 

  • Manage the development and implementation of communication strategies and plans that promote clear understanding of organisational aims and objectives with the wider community, and ensure business communications plans and services are successfully delivered on time and on budget
  • Assist on a range of project management activities and support services, including preparation of reports and evaluations, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans to ensure project outcomes are achieved
  • Plan publicity campaigns, events, fundraising and organise communication strategies with the goal of creating a favourable view of the organisation
  • Collaboratively develop and support community events, managing stakeholders, partners and vendors relating to the events program, as well as report on data.
  • Organise public opinion research initiatives, analysing findings and evaluating results to create public relations strategy
  • Manage social media schedules and channels, ensuring the Centre’s mission and vision are communicated through all public and digital campaigns
  • Build and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders
  • Provide effective, efficient and timely services in a manner consistent with organisational philosophy, the state’s legislative and policy framework, organisational policies & procedures, service agreements and other legal requirements 

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualification or Diploma in communications, public relations or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain working relationships across all levels of an organisation, with key stakeholders and with members of the community
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, including sensitivity to working with women from diverse cultural and class backgrounds and ages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to compose engaging content for online social media platforms
  • Well-developed planning, administration and organisational skills
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and database applications, with a strong understanding of how to use online platforms to deliver content and programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices within the NGO sector
  • Proven capacity to think strategically, present solutions and implement agreed on actions in relation to communication plans, public relations and marketing campaigns
  • Demonstrated commitment to feminist practice and social justice
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of women’s health issues, including domestic and family violence issues 

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Experience working within the communications, public health or government sectors
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit or community-based organisation
  • Excellent audio-visual skills
  • Experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and/or ability to speak more than one language

  • Conditions of employment are in accordance with the SCHADS Award and any applicable workplace agreements
  • Appointment salary and future progressions is based on qualifications, experience and competency
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo screening (Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check) in accordance with the Child and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998 NSW, the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 NSW and Child Safe practices
