Cufa is a small international development agency dedicated to alleviating poverty with over 40 years’ experience across the Asia-Pacific region. Cufa currently delivers programs focused on children’s financial literacy, community-owned banking, women’s empowerment and livelihoods training.

Job Purpose

As a nimble and outcomes-focused NGO, Cufa is seeking a dynamic proposals writer to lead the design and development of technical and financial proposals for unilateral and multilateral funding partners within Cufa’s thematic focus. This role requires individuals who take ownership for their work, relationships, and outcomes.

As the Grants Writer/Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for crafting compelling and impact-focused proposals. To be successful in this role, you must have strong writing abilities, inherently enjoy writing and able to integrate meaningful information succinctly. Experience in developing and writing robust funding proposals is highly desirable, including volunteer experience.

This role will ideally suit individuals with tertiary qualifications in international development or any other relevant disciplines who are committed acquiring hands-on experience as a pathway to a career in international development.

Personal Qualities

As a small NGO we heavily rely on each and every person to take ownership for their area of work as well as being able to work as a team to address organisational needs and deliver results.

Applicants who can demonstrate a positive and energetic work ethic and a ‘can-do attitude’ will fit perfectly within Cufa’s organisational culture as well as being empathetic to, and passionate about, assisting those in need in the Asia Pacific region.

Experience and ability to manage multiple priorities with ease, and thinking innovatively with minimal supervision are highly desirable.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in international development or any other relevant discipline(s), Masters highly desirable
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities
  • Attention to detail, highly organised and analytical
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Clear and articulate communicator, including cross-cultural communication
  • An understanding of the application of the logical framework and theory of change
  • Project management experience (desirable)

Working Conditions and Other Essential Requirements

  • The successful candidate must have the right to work in Australia.
  • Adherence to written confidentiality policy is required.
  • Permanent appointment to this position is dependent upon successful completion of a Police Check and signing of child protection policy and code of conduct.
  • In this position you will be required to conduct follow‐up police check every two years or at any other time when required to do so by Cufa.
  • Commitment and adherence to Cufa policies and procedures is required.
