Board Members (Voluntary) - Gippsland / Western Victoria

Charles Tyers Foundation

About us:

We’re in the process of setting up our new foundation and we’re looking for enthusiastic and experienced people to join our volunteer board as we go through the process of incorporation.

The Charles Tyers Foundation aims to continue the work of our namesake, colonial administrator and explorer Charles Tyers, in advancing Western Victoria and Gippsland. Charles was Commissioner of Crown Lands for Portland (1842-1843) and Gippsland (1844-1867).

Our object is to pursue the following charitable purposes: supporting, funding and operating initiatives that enhance and improve the welfare, culture, liveability and amenity of Western Victoria and Gippsland and their communities.

Board meetings will be held via technology. As we are in the start-up phase ad-hoc meetings may be required.

About the role:

Board members can come from any background, but preferably professional people with experience in HR, business development, finance, commercial operations, management, IT, marketing, fundraising/philanthropy, community development or not for profit. Board members will help us set our strategic objectives, ensure we have good governance and appropriate processes and policies are in place, help develop and approve our budgets and financial forecasts.

The chair and board directors should share our vision for compassion, justice and helping others. Professional memberships of AICD or ICDA not required, but looked upon favourably. Chair and board members may be required to become members of the ICDA to meet ATO ‘responsible persons’ requirements.
