Covering an expansive geographical area which includes the Central Coast and Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore, Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a system serving 44 Catholic Schools with around 17,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

About the Role

Catholic Schools Broken Bay exists to inspire hearts and minds to know Christ, love learning and to use their talents be the very best they can be. Key to this is the relationships between home, school and parish. Catholic Schools Broken Bay is seeking suitably qualified and experienced candidates to enhance family support at St Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School, Wyong (2 days per week) and MacKillop Catholic College, Warnervale (3 days per week). This can be a full-time role or 2 separate part-time positions. This is a contract position for a minimum of one year with the strong possibility of extension for the right person(s).

The Family Liaison Officer (FLO) position exists to provide family support and parent engagement strategies to school communities and to contribute to strong family/school partnerships. Services provided will be developed according to the needs of the individual school community. Reporting to the Principal, the FLO acts as a resource to identify services in the community in response to the complex needs of families to improve student safety, education, wellbeing and overall life outcomes. Along with the school counsellor and other allied services, including CSBB Attendance Officer, and as directed by the Principal, the FLO will contribute to the case management of students through provision of family support.

About You

  • Supportive of, or can demonstrate, an understanding and commitment to the ethos of the Catholic faith in an educational context.
  • Can articulate a vision and encourage processes for home/school/parish and community partnerships.
  • Promotes teamwork and collaboration in all activities and positively contributes to a safe and harmonious work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with families especially in a school context.
  • Involvement in case management approach to supporting parents.
  • Experience facilitating high quality group work, such as parent education and parenting support programs.
  • Evidence of applying the Continuous Improvement Cycle into all areas of work including reflecting on and evaluating activities.
  • Competent record keeping, computer and IT skills.

Qualifications and Required Documentation

  • Tertiary qualifications and experience in Social Work, Social Sciences, Welfare, Psychology, Allied Health, Education, or related discipline.
  • Valid Working with Children Check.
  • Current NSW Driver’s License.
  • Comprehensively insured motor vehicle.
