Connecting2Australia is currently seeking a Garden Maintenance Disability Support Worker to join our Bayswater Work Connections team. Our Work Connection program focuses on mentoring and supporting people with disability in the workplace.

The Role

The role of the Disability Support Worker includes but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring that efficient and quality work is carried out whilst ensuring employees’ and business satisfaction
  • Planning and directing daily production activities to ensure that operations are efficient, effective and meet the organisation’s requirements
  • Providing employees with training, support and resources they require to efficiently complete their tasks in a safe environment in compliance with NDIS, Disability Service Standards, Workplace Health and Safety legislation and other relevant requirements.

This position also has a hands-on component that requires the Garden Maintenance Disability Support Worker to work alongside employees (as required) and to assist the team to meet targets and gain access to training and development opportunities. You will complete work in contract garden maintenance and be responsible for supervising the use of machinery, tools, vehicles and equipment.

  • Be a mature-minded, confident individual who thrives working as part of a team
  • Have qualifications or experience in working with people with a disability
  • Have qualifications or experience garden maintenance
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a positive approach to co-workers and customers
  • A strong work ethic and high level of resilience
  • A genuine commitment to a whole of life approach to the support needed for people to live more independently and work towards achieving their goals

It is essential that you hold:

  • Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services (or will obtain)
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate
  • A valid Australian Manual Drivers Licence;
  • A current National Police Check and Working with Children's Check (or be willing to obtain)
  • Willing to complete a Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme check
