About the role:

C&K Mackay Children and Family Centre are now looking for a Manager to lead the Mackay Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Family and Child Hub. The Manager is responsible in leading efficient and effective management of C&K's operation of the Mackay Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander family and Child Hub (Mackay CFC), to enable delivery of high quality early childhood services and programs in line with C&K's vision, values and strategic priorities, and compliant with relevant legislation, regulations, education standards, funding requirements, and C&K policies, procedures and operational standards.  

  • Permanent Full-time position 40 hours per week
  • Manager role
  • Mentor and lead a team of direct reports that support the Hub and programs
  • Regional Manager, Wellbeing and Inclusion, and Education Practice Advisor support
  • Community involvement, building partnership, networking and engaging in the wider community

About the service:

The Mackay Children and Family Centre is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service which provides access to integrated early childhood education and care, parenting and family support and child maternal health services. The Centre incorporates a Long Day Care Centre and a Hub, that are designed to work together as an integrated unit. 

The MCFC is a facility where our whole community is welcome and where all cultures are respected. 

Our vision is to be a trusted Children and Family Centre that empowers all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to grow, learn and build on strengths with connection to land, sea and cultures. 

We believe in working in partnership with our families and community and believe they are an integral part of our Centre. The MCFC Hub provides a large number of programs and services to support the wider community, families and children.

Some programs provided are:

  • Family and parent support/crisis care
  • Playgroups
  • Homework club
  • Parenting programs
  • Child health nurse
  • Women's health checks
  • Psychological, dental and health care referrals

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Must identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent OR be able to provide a reference from a member of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community that demonstrates cultural competence and ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Hold a Bachelor of Social Work (4-year degree) or relevant tertiary qualification
  • Hold a Diploma of Business Management or relevant community service management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, mentoring and supporting early childhood education and care services/programs to deliver high quality outcomes and in building a capable and engaged workforce
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate across team collaboration and cooperation to achieve best practice outcomes
  • A demonstrated understanding of the contemporary issues facing Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and the impacts these issues have on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people societies and cultures
  • A very high level of interpersonal skills including written & oral communication skills, a demonstrated ability to influence, a confident and professional manner and a strong customer service focus
