About Mackay Children and Family Centre

The Mackay Children and Family Centre is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service which provides access to integrated early childhood education and care, parenting and family support and child maternal health services. The centre incorporates a Long Day Care Centre and a Hub, that are designed to work together as an integrated unit. The MCFC Hub provides many programs and services to support the wider community.

About the opportunity

At our C&K Mackay Children and Family Centre a position has come available within the Hub for an enthusiastic Administration Officer to support the Hub on a permanent full-time basis. You will be working 38 hours per week and ideally commencing in March 2021.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide administrative support to the Manager and other staff as required within the centre
  • Maintain filing and archiving systems
  • Assist with the collection, consolidation and entry of data from partnering agencies and staff
  • for reporting purposes
  • Co-ordinate phone calls, emails and correspondence, answer questions or direct to the
  • appropriate person and escalate concerns as required
  • Collect basic information from clients to begin a case file, verify and update information and
  • enter into case files and online database systems.
  • Develop and maintain administrative record keeping and reporting systems.
  • Undertake other duties and/or project work as requested
  • Organise and participate in community engagement activities e.g. NAIDOC

Ideal applicants will have:  

  • Knowledge and understanding of working within the local Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian South Sea Islander community culture and protocols
  • Proven well developed written, verbal, interpersonal communication and presentation skills coupled with a strong customer service focus
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational and time management skills
  • Willingness to participate in flexible after hours rostering as required
  • Previous experience in working as a member of a multidisciplinary team and an ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and produce accurate and detailed reports
  • Able to maintain a very high level of confidentiality and integrity
  • A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products with the ability to learn new software applications
