About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Case Manager to join our culturally diverse and innovative team. The Case Manager, Out of Home Care, will be responsible for securing safe and nurturing home environments, providing case management and support services for children and young people who are unable to live with their families. The position also includes the recruitment, assessment, training and support of carers to support the healthy development and protection of children and young people.

Your day to day duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the child/young person’s wellbeing is actively safeguarded and concerns immediately reported
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring children/young people have a safe and stable home environment
  • Assess and support children/young people’s ongoing needs
  • Provide support and supervision to carers and be involved with carer support groups/activities as required
  • Support the development, implementation and review of individual case plans and restoration plans
  • Ensure all records/case notes are accurate and maintained in line with service, legislative, and Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) requirements, including the electronic casework system
  • Be responsible for informing families of the service obligations in relation to child protection, confidentiality and the Privacy Act

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (for example Social Work, Psychology or equivalent)
  • Excellent knowledge, understanding and experience of working with families with complex needs and the impact of trauma
  • A well-developed understanding of child protection, the relevant legislation and knowledge of research and theoretical frameworks for working with children and young people
  • Experience in working with children and families from CALD backgrounds
  • Exposure to report writing, using analytical skills
  • A current driver’s license
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends

Desirable Criteria:

  • Fluency in another language as well as English
  • Experience of working in Out-of-Home Care
  • First Aid Certificate
