Clarence River Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Service Inc is seeking an enthusiastic Refuge Caseworker to join our dynamic team. The Refuge Caseworker is responsible for direct service delivery to women and children residing in the Refuge who are experiencing or escaping from Domestic & Family Violence and to assist them to achieve independence and self - reliance. The position is 52 hours per fortnight. The position is covered under SCHADS Award.

The role entails the following:

  • To develop client-focused case plans and work from a trauma-informed care model.
  • To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that Service users have access to community resources such as legal supports and advise, health care and counselling, provide support for Service users to access private and public housing options and products.
  • To undertake comprehensive intake procedures and needs assessment.
  • Provide Advocacy for Service users as required.
  • Provide group work.
  • Maintain and enter appropriate client data.

Essential Criteria:

  • An understanding of the social and political issues impacting on women and children escaping domestic & family violence.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess domestic & family violence risk, safety plan and prioritise safety of women & children.
  • Demonstrate experience & knowledge of case management practices and frameworks.
  • Previous experience in working with the client group and the ability to engage people who are experiencing domestic & family violence.
  • Proven ability to work with women and children who are in crisis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Relevant Welfare work experience and qualifications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Child protection reporting requirements.
  • On call after hours roster availability on a rotating basis.
  • Current NSW license.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Group work skills.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Casework experience in a residential setting.
