The Opportunity

Craddock Murray Neumann Lawyers is a well-established national firm. During the last 2 years we have been experiencing significant growth and now have offices in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

Currently we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Refugee Lawyer to join and support our team on either a casual/contract or full-time basis working in Australia and an offshore location.

The work involves significant amounts of travel, both within Australia, and offshore.

Our caseload includes primary applications, merits review matters and judicial review.

Please note that our clients will not encounter any out-of-pocket costs.

The duties in this role would include:

  • Supervise and co-ordinate the offshore refugee law practice
  • Check work of junior lawyers
  • Act as team leader:
    • direct junior lawyers
    • ensure they are working productively
    • comply with timetables
    • meet targets
    • make all applications and
    • file all documents in a timely manner
  • Prepare applications for refugee status
  • Prepare briefs and submissions
  • Co-ordinate the Offshore Supreme Court and Court of Appeal cases
  • Communicate with the solicitor for the Offshore Government

Our Ideal Candidate

As our new Immigration Lawyer you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Extensive experience working with refugees and a strong interest in refugee law
  • Experience leading a team and supervising Junior Lawyers
  • Current legal practicing certificate in an Australian state
  • Experience assisting with primary and merits review applications or judicial review of migration matters in Australia or elsewhere
  • Strong legal drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse legal problems to a high standard and think analytically
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, including remotely
  • Resilience, personal resolve, tolerance and the capacity to work in challenging environments

Salary will be based upon your skills and experience.
