The role

Involves:

  • Personal assistance for clients at home or in the neighbourhood, including attending appointments and shopping
  • Companion support for social events, recreation or sporting activities
  • Supporting clients to build new skills through the delivery of client-centred,  innovative program such as arts & craft, music, health & fitness
  • Assisting clients at meal times, with personal care needs and administering medication

The hours & location

You must be willing to work:

  • Predominately between Mon-Fri 9am – 3pm
  • Some shifts could be between Mon – Fri 6am – 5pm (once a fortnight)
  • Some shifts could possibly be shorter such as 10am – 2pm
  • Shifts may be up to 9pm (twice a month)
  • Available to work 1 day over the weekend as an option in the future (once a month)
  • Minimum 4 days per week
  • 20 hours per week

Must be flexible to travel to the following locations:

  • Wallsend
  • Cardiff
  • Stockton
  • Shortland
  • Lambton
  • and including the Greater Lake Macquarie region

You..

  • Must have at least one year’s experience supporting clients with behaviours of concern
  • Have been described as an outstanding communicator who is empathetic and compassionate
  • Have a professional approach, are accountable with a high level of motivation
  • Are upbeat, energetic and think “outside the square”
  • Must have a current NSW Driver’s License (P2 minimum)
  • Must be willing to use your own car and have fully comprehensive car insurance (car mileage will be reimbursed)
  • Must have, or willing to obtain prior to starting, a current First Aid Certificate, CPR, Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Must undertake a health assessment
