Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded, community-based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

CFA is registered to provide training and assessment services in accordance with the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority (VRQA) guidelines. CFA delivers a broad range of training and assessment across the state, both in brigades and at purpose-built training facilities in key regional location and strives to be an organisation of choice for volunteers and employees, attracting people with a variety of skills, from organisational to operational, who all add value through the roles they perform.

About the Opportunity

CFA is seeking two independent committee members to join the RTO Governance Committee whose primary purpose is to assure the CFA Board that the RTO operates in compliance with the relevant standards and guidelines and provide advice on the governance and compliance against the RTO standards, conditions and requirements.

As an RTO Governance Committee Member forming part of the Governance Committee of five you will actively participate in meetings through attendance, discussion, and review of minutes, papers and other Governance Committee documents and support the Chairperson in the disciplined conduct of meetings. 

By joining this committee, you will be required to understand the goals, objectives and desired outcomes of the CFA RTO along with a true commitment to the CFA values. This opportunity will see you support open discussion and debate to encourage fellow Governance Committee members to voice their insights.  The committee member role is voluntary; however reasonable travel and other expenses incurred as part of undertaking the role will be reimbursed.

In additional uploading the CFA Values, the independent member will also be expected to attend 75% of scheduled meetings in a yearly period, commit 35-40 hours annually to attend and read agenda papers along with the completion of an annual Fit and Proper Personal Declaration.

This is a truly unique opportunity where your independent expertise within the areas of governance, compliance, and RTO operations in the emergency services sector will provide you with an opportunity to influence the training and learning function across the State.

The people we are looking for will have demonstrated experience and achievement at a senior level in management and leadership along with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to deal with multiple stakeholders in a diverse organisational setting.
