About Us

COORDINARE is the values led Primary Health Network for South Eastern NSW and is one of 31 PHNs across Australia and one of 10 PHNs in NSW. Our region stretches from Helensburgh in the north, past Eden to the Victorian border in the south, and inland to Cooma/Monaro, Queanbeyan, Yass and Goulburn.

Together with diverse government, non-profit, education and research, and private healthcare organisations we work to transform the health system to improve health outcomes across this unique region.

Working with and supporting The Illawarra Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention Collaborative (‘The Collaborative’, see www.suicidepreventioncollaborative.org.au), is an excellent example of working together to transform the system and improve health outcomes.

The Collaborative was founded on the common ambition to reduce the number of suicide deaths and attempts in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region. The Collaborative now consists of representatives from more than 40 significant organisations across health, education, community, local media, police, ambulance, employment agencies, Aboriginal organisations, local councils, and transport, as well as lived experience advocates. Using an evidence-based approach to suicide prevention, the Collaborative aims to build a collaborative culture and commitment to contribution to community in this vitally important work

The Role

As an employee of COORDINARE, the Project Officer will provide support for day-to-day operations associated with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention Collaborative including supporting the planning, implementation, and reporting of suicide prevention activities.

The role is the go-to person, responsible for coordinating and organising multiple activities and keeping communication flowing. This work is enabling the Collaborative members to focus on collaborating and sharing expertise to advance their shared goal to reduce suicide and suicide attempts in the region.

About You

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a ‘can do’ attitude, solutions focus, and keenness to develop skills and learn with and from others,
  • bring excellent organisational and problem-solving skills and an ability to juggle multiple projects/activities at once while still achieving results,
  • be a great communicator who enjoys supporting others while working in a busy, results focused team environment,
  • have a strong sense of personal resilience and commitment to outcomes whilst contributing to the complex, emotive issue of suicide prevention.
