Financial Rights Legal Centre Inc (Financial Rights) is a community based legal centre in Surry Hills specialising in helping consumers of financial services, particularly credit, banking, insurance and debt.

The role

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Financial Counsellor for a 12-month contract. This is a full-time position, however part-time family-friendly arrangements will be considered. Experience essential. Commitment to consumer rights essential. The position involves mostly giving telephone advice on the National Debt Helpline, Mob Strong Debt Help and Caseworker advice lines. It also includes some casework. Please see the position description for further details on the role.

Salary and benefits

The salary range for this role on a full-time basis is $71,489 - $78,800 plus 9.5% superannuation contribution. Currently approved arrangements with the Australian Taxation Office allow the Centre (as a Public Benevolent Institution) to pay a portion of gross salary as an untaxed Fringe Benefit with the remainder taxed at the applicable rate. In addition to being a flexible workplace, Financial Rights offers a 35-hour working week, 7 days’ time in lieu of leave on top of 4 weeks annual leave. These entitlements are pro-rated for part-time working arrangements.
