ABOUT THE ROLE

The Volunteer Support Worker role is to assist our Inside Out team to achieve better social and economic outcomes for people in our community. As a Volunteer Support Worker, your role will be to support and supervise volunteer Live in Mentors as part of the Inside Out Lead Tenant Program to assist young people to develop their independent living skills as they prepare to leave the care of Child Protection.

The role further involves supporting the management of Inside Out properties including liaising with Real estate Agents, maintenance contractors and ensuring the house is kept in a safe and suitable manner. The Volunteer Support Worker will also be involved as part of a team of professionals in volunteer recruitment, training and assessment. The Volunteer Support Worker will need to be able to work flexible hours with some evening work required to fit in with the availability of volunteers who work full time. The successful candidate would also be on a rotating roster to provide remote After Hours Support to our Young People and Live in Mentors.

This is a Full Time, 12 months Fixed Term position.

This position is classified in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 MA000100, with the salary range Level 4 $72 K to $77 K plus superannuation and the level to be commensurate with skills and experience.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Support Worker who can work collaboratively within a team in a non-judgmental manner, is empathetic and solution-focused, can manage change well, and who is professional in their approach to client service delivery. Experience in Youth Work, Foster Care or in supporting volunteers as well as an understanding of the Child Protection System would be beneficial.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful applicant for this position will be able to demonstrate:

Essential:

  • Demonstrated commitment and personal desire to adhere to Concern Australia’s Mission, Vision, Values and Goals and to work in a team environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in either social work, youth work, social sciences or related field.
  • Relevant experience on a similar role.
  • Knowledge on how to work with young people impacted by developmental trauma.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check and International Police Check (International Police Check if applicable).
  • Valid Working with Children Check or relevant Victorian Teaching Registration.

Desirable:

  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Knowledge of the Youth Justice system and Child Protection out of care systems.

Appointments are subject to satisfactory Working with Children Check, National Police Check, International Police Check (If resided overseas for a period of 12 months or longer for the past 10 years) and other employment screening or credential checks as determined by the position description.
