Background
The purpose of the Volunteer and Training Coordinator position is to organise, encourage, train and resource volunteer Station Workers and to ensure their skills are accessed to the benefit of the station. Station workers are general volunteers and programmers.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Station Workers
- Respond to new volunteer enquiries (email, station drop-ins and phone) to assess their skills, interests and compatibility with the station and its needs
- Provide new station workers with an induction and orientation
- Accurately record and maintain database of volunteer contacts
- Maintain reception and station duty rosters, providing training for new receptionists and station duty volunteers as needed
- Adhere to 3CR policies and procedures at all times
Training
- Co-ordinate and organise general training course
- Coordinate and organise advanced training including; tailored training, live to air and podcast training
- Coordinate Train the Trainer courses including the ongoing development and revision of training resources for both trainers and participants
- Assist the Program Coordinator with National program training needs as required
- Coordinate and provide resources, support and advice to volunteer trainers and provide feedback to trainees
- Convene Training subcommittee meetings to develop training policy and priorities
General Duties
- Attend regular staff and Committee of Management meetings
- Assist with major fundraising activities, including 3CR annual Radiothon and subscriber drive
- Co-ordinate and manage phone and station duty support during Radiothon
- Support station volunteers and other duties as required
Accountability
The Volunteer and Training Coordinator reports to the Station Manager and is employed by the Management Committee of the Community Radio Federation.

ESSENTIAL
Skills and experience
- Understanding of and commitment to 3CR’s statement of purpose
- Demonstrated experience working with volunteers in a community based organisation
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice in volunteer management
- High level office and administration skills including proficiency in standard PC office programs, email and google suite
- Demonstrated experience in delivering training
Managerial skills
- Effectively manage tasks and set priorities in order to achieve set objectives efficiently within set timelines
- Ability to effectively manage self, project plans, budgets and resources
Interpersonal skills
- Highly developed communication and negotiation skills, including written and verbal presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people from diverse communities
- Ability to share information and build confidence by supporting volunteers and providing constructive feedback
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Problem-solving skills and ability to propose solutions
DESIRABLE
- Fundraising experience in community organisations
- Qualifications in training delivery i.e.: Cert IV in workplace assessment and training
