Community Options Australia is implementing an exciting, new clinical program to provide psychological support for residents of Aged Care Facilities in Western Sydney.

This position would suit a Psychologist/Social Worker looking for additional part time work as an employee or on a contractual basis or a qualified psychologist/Mental Health Social worker looking for a FT position under a limited contract. Remuneration is negotiable.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake mental health assessments, develop care plans and provide evidence-based, focused psychological therapy (CBT, ACT, psycho-education, interpersonal therapy, etc) either face to face or via Telehealth to residents aged 65 to 95 years who live in residential aged care facilities (RACF)
  • Maintain accurate case notes for clients using an electronic clinical record and according to Practice protocols and professional standards.
  • Provide written reports with pertinent information regarding client's assessment, treatment provided; and recommendations on future management of the client's disorder, according to Practice protocols.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, and provision of short-term evidence-based psychological treatment (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and other modalities
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and accreditation in Psychology or Clinical Social Work and current registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist/ AASW as a Social Worker
  • Demonstrated understanding of key issues relating to the health and well- being needs of older adults and residents of aged care facilities.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of issues related to Culturally and linguistically diverse clients (CALD) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (AATSI) culturally appropriate frameworks for delivery of Recovery- Based therapy.
  • Ability to travel between residential aged care facilities in Western Sydney and provide therapy via Telehealth as needed
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology system

Desirable Criteria

  • Bilingual language skills - Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Turkish, Candidates Filipino/Tagalog, Urdu, Greek, Spanish
