Chief Executive Officer

Community Arts Network

Are you looking for an exciting leadership role in the arts?

Community Arts Network (CAN) is seeking a visionary leader ideally with proven experience leading small to medium sized not-for-profit organisations and a deep understanding of the arts and community development sectors. Someone who lives and breathes our values of respect, social equity and creativity, and who will proactively champion a collaborative culture which delivers exceptional cultural and artistic outcomes. This role will be pivotal in maintaining a strong organisational culture, as well as respected relationships with key stakeholders across all layers of government, the arts and private sector.

Established in 1985, Community Arts Network (CAN) creates positive social change through the arts, building inclusion and understanding between people. With its roots planted firmly in the social activism of the 1960s community arts movement, contemporary CAN continues to unlock Western Australia’s untold stories through community participation in art.

Reporting to the CAN Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead the organisation’s vision, purpose and strategy. Along with a highly capable core team, contracted artists, arts practitioners and cultural guidance from the Aboriginal Advisory Group, they will achieve high quality artistic outcomes and social impact with communities across Western Australia.

Excellent leadership, advocacy, business planning, financial and management skills are essential, as well as proven experience in securing funding and diversification strategies. Previous experience in expanding and extending not-for-profit outcomes through cross-sectoral relationships will be regarded highly.

We strongly encourage experienced applicants from First Nations or culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.

The value we place on this role is reflected in a highly competitive remuneration package.
