A skilled and values aligned WHS Education Specialist is needed at the Soft Landing Mattress Recycling site in Smithfield. This 12-month contract opportunity is for a professional who is experienced at creating and implementing WHS & wellbeing frameworks for a diverse workforce.

Community Resources is a national organisation that runs some of the largest social enterprises in Australia and delivers community services. We employed 600 people last year, 77% of them experiencing barriers to employment.

We keep waste out of landfill, we grow and distribute fair food, and we provide community service to those who need it most.

We run three environmental repair social enterprises – Green Connect, Soft Landing and Resource Recovery Australia – and a range of community services.

What your role will look like

Work/life balance is important at Community Resources so there is flexibility relating to how the week can be structured. The position can be worked part-time (30 hours) or full-time (38 hours), with the option of working flexibly between Smithfield and home.

The WHS Education Specialist is required to;

  • Develop a framework for an organisational health, safety and wellbeing education program to suit a diverse workforce
  • Design training products that build capability in risk management for work health and safety (WHS) and related identified needs for the exemplar business unit: Soft Landing
  • Deliver training and evaluate the impact with the exemplar business unit: Soft Landing.

The successful applicant will have;

  • Instructional design qualification and/or Certificate IV in Training and Evaluation highly desirable
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or equivalent experience highly desirable
  • Ability to translate regulations and technical guidance into effective information and training products that are practical, scalable and adaptable to a business need
  • Ability to use computer systems and programs, databases, MS Suite applications and educational design platforms
  • Effective communicator who has highly developed and relatable interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with people at all levels, and capably able to shift messaging, language, tone to achieve high engagement and relatability with safety and wellbeing practices
  • Self-starting, reliable and genuine enthusiasm to safety, and can work unsupervised
  • Great attention to detail and highly organised
  • Current knowledge of applicable federal and state based WHS legislation and obligations relevant to the organisation’s industries sectors
