We’re looking for an experienced company secretary to provide governance and secretariat support to our Board, its executive committees and our CEO. Your time commitment would be around 8 to 12 hours each month and would include supporting our monthly Board meetings that are held in the evening in Bardon, Brisbane as well as support for board subcommittee meetings that are held at regular intervals throughout the year.

This is a paid position.

We provide programs and services in areas of aged care, children, family & individual support, mental health, disability, housing & homelessness, drug & alcohol recovery and NDIS. Through our neighbourhood centres and community development programs, we also offer financial and social inclusion programs, venue hire, support for people seeking asylum and we support community led initiatives including community arts and community gardens.

The role:

  • Provide effective governance and compliance support to the Board and CEO
  • Meet monthly for 2 hours in the evening
  • Support the Board’s sub-committees
  • Time commitment approximately 8 – 12 hours per month

Responsibilities:

  • Managing board processes including meetings, documentation and records
  • Expertise and responsibility for corporate governance requirements including advising the Board of regulatory changes and responsibility for statutory obligations.
  • Managing the Board’s remote portal and working with the Chairperson on induction of directors
  • Leadership guidance, technical support and advice to the Board and CEO
  • Setting and managing high standards of ethical behaviour and decision making

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Law highly regarded)
  • Experience in a Board or company secretary role
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strategic thinking skills
  • Innovative, ethical and forward thinking mindset
