The Role

We are seeking an innovative and passionate leader who will be responsible for the management of Coast Shelter’s Service Evolution which includes social entrepreneurship, grants, tenders & submissions and key Coast Shelter projects.

A key focus of the role is to build upon and establish a number of Social Enterprises across the Central Coast to support our people with education and employment.

Coast Shelter believes in creating innovative opportunities to create real impact and lasting change for our community. One of the ways that we do this is by finding employment pathways for the people we support through Social Enterprise, allowing them to gain work experience and transition into stable employment.

The position is responsible for creating sustainable Social Enterprises that:

  • Establish a safe, engaging and understanding environment that recognises the trauma and neglect our people often experienced in their previous life, where they can discover their strengths and build their skills
  • Provide wrap around support and mentoring to support our people in getting used to the new work environment and routine
  • Build Links to education and training providers to combine work experience with the opportunity to obtain a formal certificate for later employment
  • Form pathways to permanent employment by connecting our people with existing businesses, understanding the needs of those businesses and providing transition support

The position is supported by the Grants, Tenders and Submissions Coordinator.

All about You

You will have the ability to develop, establish and grow a range of sustainable social enterprises with a proven ability to lead and project manage large and simultaneous projects to implement Coast Shelters strategic goals.

To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in related discipline, bachelor level or higher and/or extensive relevant sector experience supported by well-developed project management skills.
  • Strong business acumen demonstrated through innovation or enterprises.
  • Strong financial management skills and understanding to deliver projects on budget.
  • High level of computer skills with advanced competencies in Microsoft Excel.
  • Superior skills in mediation and negotiation, collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Clear understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate with a range of colleagues to build understanding and knowledge and improve outcomes for clients, with the ability to adapt approach for the audience and encourage reflective practice.
