A fixed term Adolescent Family Violence Practitioner opportunity has arisen at the Centre for Non-Violence within the Making It Right program.

The Making It Right program is a new specialist therapeutic, trauma informed intervention for young people who are using violence against their parents or parent figures, and/or family members, with the main objectives of reducing the incidence of adolescent family violence, intervening early, increasing the safety of all family members, and repairing relationships.

The position is a part time opportunity working 30.4 hours per week (0.8 FTE) which is funded until 30 June 2022 to address issues impacting the family and their relationships. The specific service provision will include:

• Therapeutic support and counselling for the young person and their parent/s or carer/s and family members;
• Case management and wrap around practical support for families
• Co-facilitation of parents group work programs
• Participation in intake, risk assessment and safety planning with family members; and
• Assertive engagement and outreach strategies to engage young people.

To be considered for this opportunity you will have:

• A minimum of degree level qualification in Social Work, psychology and/or related Behavioural Sciences. Post-graduate qualifications in family therapy, or counselling/psychology are desirable.
• Substantial experience and specialised skills within a family violence or related role
• A demonstrated understanding of feminist practice and its application in responding to the gendered nature of violence against women and its impact on children and young people;
• A demonstrated ability to provide direct service in the clinical assessment of and therapeutic service response to infants, children, young people and families;
• Demonstrated experience in the facilitation of group work programs.
• Skills in providing case consultation and advice to other professionals, particularly around trauma and impact of violence on victim-survivors and family relationships.
