Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world’s most highly regarded independent medical research centres. Our research focuses on the areas of embryonic development and birth defects, cancer, neuroscience and gene therapy and we have a strong international reputation based on our research outcomes. It is also home to the world-first proteomics project, ProCan, which is changing the way cancer is diagnosed and treated. CMRI’s research programs are supported by state of the art facilities and committed research and support staff. The successful applicant for this full-time position will report to the Head of Marketing and Communications. It is essential the applicant has high level written communication skills and experience with digital marketing strategy and execution. Extensive knowledge of social media channels is required, as is experience with website CRMs and Google Analytics. Marketing automation and email marketing experience are desirable. Above all, creative thinking, the ability to work in a dynamic and highly collaborative team, a desire to learn and grow with the changing digital landscape, and strong self-motivation are essential.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Initiating and executing digital marketing strategies in line with overall marketing and fundraising objectives, including monitoring performance, reporting, and optimising outcomes
  • Creating content for organic social media and paid social media advertisements to increase brand awareness and drive donations
  • Updating, maintaining and creating content for websites and the online shop
  • Overseeing the execution of SEO tasks
  • Developing and monitoring email campaigns, online campaign metrics, landing page conversion rates and website traffic metrics.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and external agencies (media agency, developers…) as needed to ensure projects are completed at a high standard and in a timely manner

Key Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification and 3 years work experience in an equivalent role
  • Experience using content management systems
  • Experience with marketing and email automation
  • Experienced with a range of analytical tools (e.g. Google Analytics) relevant to digital marketing and the skill to pull out key data sets and report back for future optimisation
  • Good working knowledge of WordPress
  • Good understanding of SEM, SEO and social platforms
  • Experience working with different email marketing platforms
  • A positive attitude and ability to actively collaborate as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Past experience with digital fundraising desirable but not required
