Family & Community Support Worker

  • Permanent, Part-time - 25 hours per week

CMCS is a community organisation working across the Cumberland LGA and other parts of Western Sydney. CMCS operates in a complex environment, providing services to all members of the community from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and ages. CMCS is a registered charity, we receive funding from a range of sources including Federal, State and local governments, corporates, philanthropic trusts and self-generated income.

CMCS has approximately 25 staff and we offer programs including Family & Community Support, Financial Counselling, and Youth Services.

About the role

This is an exciting position offering independence and opportunities to be creative and responsive to community need.

We are looking for an energetic Family & Community Support Worker with experience in the community sector, specifically experience working with young children and their families. You will be flexible, creative and be able to work independently. We expect accountability to clients, and to internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and experience

  • Relevant qualification in Community Services, education, early childhood, with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated understanding of community service planning
  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating community events
  • Experience developing and coordinating community programs
  • Experience in program reporting and compliance
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills working within diverse communities and cultural competency
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and develop effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Computer literate
  • This role requires traveling to outreach services, access to transport is essential
  • Working with Children Check Clearance

DESIRABLE:

Fluent in Community Language (Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin)
