About the Climate Council

The Climate Council of Australia is Australia’s leading climate change communications organisation. We provide authoritative, expert advice to the Australian public and key decision-makers on climate change and solutions based on the most up-to-date science available. Climate Council was founded in 2013 by thousands of Australians to create a new, independent and 100% community-funded organisation in response to the abolition of the Australian Climate Commission.

About the Role

The Philanthropy Coordinator is responsible for writing grant and funding applications, developing project pitches and impact reporting to donors. The role is also responsible for prospect research, pipeline management and donor administration. The role works collaboratively with the Philanthropy Director on donor relationship management.

The Philanthropy Coordinator reports to the Philanthropy Director and works as part of the wider Community and Fundraising Team. The Philanthropy Coordinator has no direct reports.

The key responsibilities of the Philanthropy Coordinator include:

• Writing grant and funding applications.
• Prospecting, identifying and researching opportunities from individuals and philanthropic institutions.
• Developing collateral, including presentations, to pitch new and existing projects to donors.
• Assisting with donor relationship management and administration, including record keeping.
• Writing acquittal reports and ensuring that donor reporting requirements are met.
• Assisting with additional fundraising programs such as bequests and medium value giving, as required.
• Assisting with fundraising event management.
• Contribute positively to the Climate Council culture and act in accordance with Climate Council values.

Experience and Skills

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience and passion for engaging with donors.
• Experience developing and maintaining productive and meaningful relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Advanced communication skills, especially written and/or creative writing, but also verbal.
• Highly efficient and organised, experience managing and implementing processes and procedures.
• Strong research skills, confident in conducting background research on prospects and gathering intel from meetings and events.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a high performing team.

Qualifications

• Short courses in fundraising will be considered favourably but are not essential. The successful candidate must also be willing and able to complete the Fundraising Institute of Australia Code Course (if not already obtained).

• 0.8 - 1 FT, annual salary of $85-$90k +super (pro-rata) based on experience.
• 2 Year Contract.
• Melbourne or Sydney location.
• Split working from home/working from our office in the Melbourne CBD or Surry Hills, Sydney.
