The Internship and working hours:

The VCC is seeking a Communications and Administration Intern to assist in all aspects of internal and external communications, and supporting ad hoc administrative tasks for broader VCC activities to assist in the growth in member engagement and the upcoming Victorian Cleantech Expo.

The position requires a minimum of 8 hours a week, across 1 or 2 working days. These hours can be completed between 9:30am to 5.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday to align with the hours of our VCC Coordinator. Attendance at some VCC events may also be required.

The Communications and Admin intern will work closely with the VCC Coordinator, members of the VCC Board and other volunteers. The position will report to the VCC Coordinator and is based at our office in Hawthorn, Melbourne. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, there will be some flexibility with work arrangements.

This position is for 6 months, with the possibility of extending into a paid role, subject to funding.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Reviewing news, media releases and relevant websites to source content and identify upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Drafting communication documents, articles, newsletters, and content for the organisation’s website focusing on delivering value to members and new member recruitment.
  • Contributing to a marketing strategy for the VCC to increase member recruitment and engagement.
  • Drafting long form content regarding the cleantech and sustainability industry.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of the communications strategy, policies, procedures, registers and records.
  • Supporting day-to-day administrative tasks such as; email management, data entry and distribution lists.

The applicant should:

  • Currently studying Media & Communications or Marketing degree, or previous experience in a communications or marketing role.
  • Have an interest or prior experience in the cleantech/sustainability industry.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possess excellent time management skills.
  • Sound computer skills and use of Google Drive, Docs and Sheets.
  • Ability to work autonomously or in a small team.
  • Experience with website management, social media management and programs such as Mailchimp an advantage.
