Community Legal Centres NSW (CLCNSW) is the state peak body representing and supporting 39 member community legal centres across NSW. These centres provide free, high-quality legal services and champion social justice.

About the position

The role of the Bookkeeper is to support the CLCNSW Financial Service Manager in the provision of financial services to subscribers of CLCNSW’s Financial Service, a shared financial service available to community legal centres. The role will also provide administrative support to the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping for subscriber organisations including processing accounts payable and receivable; monitoring income and expenditure; maintaining records of cash receipts and payments; processing BAS, remittance of GST and PAYG to the ATO.
  • Payroll for subscriber organisations including: preparation of payroll and monitoring; maintaining employee records; ensuring personnel-related payments made; salary sacrifice arrangements.
  • Reporting for subscribing organisations including: assisting in preparation of budgets, financial reports for Boards, and acquittals to funding bodies.
  • Administration duties including: supporting the CLCNSW Financial Service Manager; answering the telephone and email enquiries from subscriber organisations; filing and archiving; other duties as set out in the position description and required by the Financial Services Manager.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Demonstrated high-level organisational skills, including strong time management skills and attention to detail
  2. Demonstrated ability to self-manage and apply a proactive, ‘can do’ attitude
  3. Strong verbal and written communications skills
  4. Experience in MYOB and Xero
  5. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office – Word and Excel
  6. Commitment to working cooperatively and respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations

Desirable:

  1. Experience in job accounting
  2. Experience managing and reporting salary packaging
  3. Experience in a Mac environment
  4. Experience working with multiple clients
  5. Experience preparing management reports for non-profit Boards
