Yarra City Council currently has an exciting opportunity for dedicated and passionate degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher’s to join our Children’s Services team on a Temporary Full Time or Permanent Part Time basis. Starting Term 1 2022, the successful applicant will commence their journey with Yarra at Connie Benn Early Learning Centre.

Connie Benn ELC is a proud partner of the Connie Benn Centre in the heart of Fitzroy. The Connie Benn Centre aims to build an integrated and inclusive Centre for children 0-12 and their families living in Fitzroy. It has a strong focus on children’s rights, education, health and wellbeing.

The successful applicant will become an integral member of our Early Learning Centre team, developing responsive educational programs to our Kindergarten Children during term time. You will have the ability to provide the highest standard of education and care to our children and families.

Welcoming our new families and children into the service is a priority for 2022, so we’re looking for a Teacher who is passionate about prioritising relationship building as part of educational program and is able to understand the needs and expectations from families and children from a diverse range of backgrounds and culture.  

With our EA conditions, you will have ample non-contact time each week to plan and prepare your high quality curriculum and program and you will have the benefit of working directly with our experienced Kindergarten & Leadership team who will guide and support you in your delivery of the service and your curriculum.

To be successfully appointed to this role you will be an experienced, degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher who would describe themselves as a team player. You will be confident in managing KIS, ESK and second year funding applications and have a good understanding of SRF. 

Because of our strong focus on building community connections, the successful applicant will understand the importance of developing good relationships with key community stakeholders including families, local groups and organisations, as well as local schools. You will have experience working with a diverse team of early childhood professionals and have an effective and respectful communication style.

At Connie Benn ELC we use progressive routines throughout the day and implement an indoor/outdoor program which responds to the needs of individual children.

As an experienced teacher you will have an understanding through a contemporary early childhood lens as to why these practices are so important. You will have a strong understanding of the approved early learning frameworks with demonstrated ability to embed the learning outcomes within your practices.  

Yarra is a child safe organisation and as such you will understand the important role that educators play in protecting and advocating for children’s wellbeing.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Years), (or equivalent),
  • Up to date First Aid, CPR, EpiPen and asthma management qualifications,
  • Valid Early Childhood Teacher VIT Registration and ability to renew,
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate responsive routines and programs guided by the approved learning frameworks,
  • Current mandatory reporting training, and
  • You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job.

Desired:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working as a degree qualified teacher in a funded Kindergarten Program,
  • Experience with Xplor or other online learning platform, and
  • Ability to demonstrate a competent level of English, both written and spoken.
