Are you seeking to make a positive difference in family's lives and work within a dedicated team of vibrant professionals? We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and inclusive Early Parenting Worker to join the Family, Youth and Children's Services Branch.

As part of the state-wide Maternal and Child Health Sleep and Settling initiative, this role will support the planning, delivery  and evaluation of the evidence-informed Sleep and Settling model of care within the City of Yarra. 

About The Position

The Early Parenting Worker will provide a high quality, family-centred health care service that promotes and protects the health of families with children 0 – 6 years in the municipality.

The successful applicants will have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively work with a diverse range of parents, children, family services team colleagues, allied professionals, other council employees and the local community.

This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative team working in City of Yarra that works in an integrated model with Family Support and Playgroups Service.

You will:

  • Deliver the Sleep and Settling program within the guidelines and policies of the Department of Health and Human Services
  • Provide support and guidance, information and intervention to families via facilitated group information sessions
  • Demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm in providing child focused, family centred care in the community setting.
  • Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers seeking to understand and meet needs
  • Contribute to the team effectively, add value to team activities and encourage a supportive team environment
  • Hold oneself accountable for achieving results; constantly measure, monitor and evaluate outcomes
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing, seeking clarification of messages being communicated
  • Set high standards, take action to rectify problems, go above and beyond to achieve business objectives
  • Hold a current driver’s license.
