  • Permanent or Temporary Band 4A (Diploma) - $66,749.52 - $72,110.88  pro rata + Super + RDO if Full Time
  • Casual Band 3A (Cert III)- $38.31 per hour
  • Casual Band 4A (Diploma) - $42.22 per hour

Yarra City Council currently has an exciting opportunity for dedicated and passionate Certificate III and Diploma Early Childhood Educator’s to join our Children’s Services team.

Starting as soon as possible, the successful applicants will commence their journey with Yarra at North Carlton Children’s Centre, located on Wurundjeri country. For the remainder of 2021 the successful applicant will become an integral member of our teams. The role requires working 8-hour days, between 7:30am and 6:15pm.

North Carlton Children’s Centre is an 89 place Long Day Care and Sessional Kindergarten. At North Carlton Children’s Centre, our mission is to support the children in our care to be confident, caring and active change-makers, in their daily lives and for the future. At North Carlton Children’s Centre:

  • We use progressive routines throughout the day and implement an indoor/outdoor program to respond to the needs of individual children.
  • We create Indoor and outdoor learning environments that provide children with opportunities to explore, experiment, create, take risks and play.
  • Our Educators facilitate children’s play, weaving the children’s emerging interests with our professional expertise to create meaningful experiences and learning.
  • We support children’s social and emotional development and understand the protective impact of this support for children’s life-long mental health. 
  • We work in teams without Room Leaders and support Diploma educators to develop leadership skills to support this leadership structure.

North Carlton Children’s Centre is looking for Early Childhood Educators who have an enthusiasm for engaging with children. They will understand the benefits of observing children’s play and learning, to extend on their interests and development. They will have proven experience in leading the implementation of high-quality children’s programs. They will have solid understanding of children’s emotional attachment, and development more broadly. Yarra is a child safe organisation and as such you will understand the important role that educators play in protecting and advocating for children’s wellbeing.

  • Be a clear communicator, who can support and share their ideas positively within a team
  • Show initiative and manage their time well.

  • Understand the importance of including Indigenous perspectives in Education

Applicants are also required to have:

  • An ACECQA approved Cert III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • Up to date First Aid, CPR, EpiPen and Asthma Management qualifications,
  • Valid Working with Children Check,
  • Current mandatory reporting training,
  • You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job.
