About the role

This role sits in the Connected Communities team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.

The Sector Capacity Senior Officer will work across targeted sectors to identify strengths, opportunities and gaps in services and access issues within the City of Casey

The focus of this role is to build partnerships and collaboration in the sector to develop collective responses that leverage opportunities to address service gaps that work towards City of Casey being an Age-Friendly City.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities to move towards an Age-Friendly City.
  • Developing networks and relationships with internal and external providers and using data and evidence to understand capacity issues that may impact on equitable access to services and supports in the City of Casey.
  • In partnership, develop responses inclusive of advocacy campaigns to address gaps in services and access issues for older people & people living with a disability.
  • Engaging with established community reference groups and networks to ensure the development of responses to gaps in services and access issues are community priorities.
  • Promoting achievements and outcomes of partnership initiatives with stakeholders, including the community.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences (Community Development, Social Policy, Human Services, or a relevant discipline) with substantial experience in a similar role within Age Care, Health, Social Welfare, Community Development or other related fields.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Aged and Disability/community services sector with understanding of the range of support needs of people in the community who may experience barriers to living and ageing well such as age/disability/health conditions/ CALD background.
  • Well-developed analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, and Eligibility to Work check.
  • Covid-19 Vaccination in line with State Government directives.
