The Park Lands, Policy & Sustainability Program establishes clear and integrated policies and plans to shape a well-designed, planned and developed City, to protect and enhance our unique Park Lands, and support a welcoming and resilient community that demonstrates environmental leadership.

About the Opportunity

In this role, your primary purpose will be to support the Team Leader, Circular Economy to deliver the goals and targets outlined in the City of Adelaide’s Resource Recovery (Organics, Recycling and Waste) Strategy and Action Plan 2020-2028. This involves developing and delivering projects and initiatives tailored to various city users including residents, businesses, the community, and the City of Adelaide’s own operations. Projects will target improved waste management, reduction of waste generation, increased diversion of waste from landfill and will build toward a more circular economy particularly for multi-unit dwellings, public spaces and business precincts. There are three (3) positions available.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Substantial experience with waste management/resource recovery best-practice, policy, planning and/or projects, and a sound understanding of waste/recycling systems and the circular economy.
  • Demonstrated experience with the planning, development, design, and delivery of projects, including waste management and resource recovery projects.
  • Experience in the provision of sound advice on environmental sustainability issues.
  • A good understanding of environmental sustainability issues relevant to Capital Cities.
  • Thorough understanding of and experience in contemporary engagement techniques/processes for sustainability planning and implementation.
  • An innovative, systems-thinking and customer-centric approach to problem solving.
  • An understanding of, or expertise in planning and development (i.e. multi-unit developments) and/or business/corporate operations (particularly SME’s) and/or behaviour change.

Please be advised this is for three (3) full-time 4-year fixed term positions with a starting salary at the Level 6 Classification commencing at $92,330 + 9.5% superannuation.
