Our mission is to protect and conserve the Great Barrier Reef, and reefs around the world.

We're building a 21st century conservation organisation, bringing together world-leading research, tourism, industry, media and conservation to inspire, educate and show the world why the Reef is too precious to lose.

We’re a small and passionate team, digitally focused, agile and collaborative, who can do a whole lot with very little. We’ve developed world-class platforms like Reef Tracks and Citizens Atlas in-house, generated significant global media coverage for collaborative campaigns like #SpawningGBR and partnered with major brands like Uber and Nickelodeon.

THE POSITION

Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef is hiring an Operations Coordinator! You would be joining a small, energetic and dedicated team who are passionate about protecting the Reef and our oceans. We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for conservation and sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative and cutting edge organisation working to create a brighter future for the Reef.

Our organisation is growing rapidly, so we need a new addition to our team who can help us to get our operations in order. This new role will work closely with the CEO, managing office coordination, diary management, and supporting communication and correspondence with key partners. The role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of finances with our accounts team, as well as reporting and relationship management with our funders.

The ideal candidate must be confident, with strong organisational skills, detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, the ability to work with the CEO and team to meet strict deadlines and undertake a wide range of support functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day to day finances and reporting requirements of funding partners
  • Ensure HR processes are in line with legislative requirements
  • Manage the work health and safety requirements of the team and organisation
  • Facilitate funds and relationship management required with our funders
  • Develop efficient processes to maximise opportunities in developing partnerships
  • Provide organisational support for day to day management for the CEO

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

  • Love the Great Barrier Reef and working in Cairns
  • Experience in financial and administrative support or similar
  • Experience in creating and maintaining administrative procedures, policies, files, reports and records
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Digital literacy and proficiency in systems including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Ability to work both independently and interdependently as part of an agile and collaborative team
  • Display a high level of attention to detail and organisation when completing tasks
  • A willingness to learn and contribute to the team and the overall Citizens vision

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef community including tourism and conservation.
