CISVic - Community Information & Support Victoria is the peak body representing local community information and support services (formerly Citizens Advice Bureaus)

Our local services assist people experiencing personal and financial difficulties by providing information, referral and support services including Emergency Relief.

We liaise with local, state and federal governments on behalf of local centres for funding and support. We undertake advocacy, research and training.

CISVic and its members are committed to volunteering and offer a range of opportunities for people to work with us.

About the role

The role of the Project Officer is to deliver on Volunteers of Banyule program activities; to increase opportunities for people to participate in the social and economic life of their broader community through volunteering with a particular focus on three target groups; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, newly arrived migrants and people living with a disability.

Role responsibilities

  • Build effective volunteering practices and opportunities with volunteer involving organisations (VIOs) and communities
  • Increase diversity of volunteers, with focus on the three priority groups
  • Improve access to information on volunteering
  • Provide access to the training, resources and supports VIOs need
  • Promote best practice recruitment and training of volunteers in relation to:
    • Supporting and retaining volunteers
    • Volunteer management
    • Provision of information, tools, training and resources
    • Regulatory obligations and risk management
  • Monitor contract performance and compliance in accordance with the contract
  • Collect, aggregate and analyse data and produce required reports 
  • Develop and maintain networks with both government and non-government organisations as appropriate
  • Attend relevant meetings

Role requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in community development, welfare or a related discipline
  • Direct experience working with volunteers 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the role, purposes, motivations of volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated networking capacity with the skills to engage a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare professional written and verbal reports for a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a small cohesive team
