The Children's Tumour Foundation (CTF) provides non-clinical supportive care, advocacy and education to people living with Neurofibromatosis (NF) and their families, with the aim of empowering those impacted to make informed decisions about their care and well-being. In- addition, this essential frontline service provides education and resources to the wider community increasing the awareness of NF to support best possible health outcomes for consumers.

The CTF is seeking a highly empathetic and client focused individual to fill the position of National Support Coordinator. This dynamic role sits within the Support Services Team and reports to Head of Support Services.

In addition to providing direct client focused support, the role is responsible for managing existing programs as well as developing new programs and project initiatives that meet the needs of the NF community. This can include group facilitation, resource development and liaison with health and disability service providers.

Whilst based within the Support Services Team the National Support Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Marketing and Fundraising Team (MFT) to achieve key deliverables as per the CTF’s strategic and operational plans.

Availability for some evening or weekend work and/or interstate travel may be required for the successful delivery of key projects (ie: NF Connect, Family Camps, Community Days and NF Symposium).

The position is Full Time however Part-Time hours will be considered for the right applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Speaking with people impacted by Neurofibromatosis (NF) and offering information, support and guidance via phone, website, zoom, email and social media platforms
  • Assisting in the facilitation of existing group programs including- NF Connect, Peer Leader Support, Parenting Programs and CTF Webinars and new programs as they are developed
  • Assisting in the CTF’s delivery of state-based family camps
  • Assisting in the delivery of the CTF’s annual NF Symposium and Community Information Seminar
  • Attending other Support and Fundraising events as required
  • Developing content to build on existing educational resources and materials
  • Developing strong working relationships with NF Clinics, health services and clinicians
  • Actively engaging with a range of community organisations including government, non-government, heath, education, disability and social services
  • Contributing project related information to support Grant applications
  • Assisting the Children’s Tumour Foundation’s role in research, policy and advocacy initiatives
  • Undertaking ad-hoc projects and other activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by Head of Support
  • Assisting with the implementation of quality improvement activities
  • Attending staff meetings as required
  • Providing accurate and timely documentation of all client and service-related interactions as well as project work

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in a health-related field such as Genetic Counselling, Nursing, Allied Health, Health Promotion and or Counselling
  • Two or more years relevant experience working in a health/disability related role (health promotion/charity/chronic medical conditions preferred)
  • Experience providing face to face and technology based (telephone and/or online platforms) support to individuals and families within a health context
  • Ability to work from a client centred and trauma informed model of practice
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and projects
  • Ability to develop networks and relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and organise work when faced with competing demands
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team with a flexible positive and collaborative approach
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge and or experience working with people impacted by Neurofibromatosis (NF)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing a chronic health condition
  • Previous experience using Salesforce
